How to create video pins for Pinterest

Interested in creating video pins? Check out my step by step tutorial below so you can master the art of creating Pinterest video pins using canva.com. Pinterest video pins are all the craze right now. Pinterest is prioritizing this type of content on the platform, so if you take the time to create video pins, your impressions will skyrocket.

Step 1:

The first step in creating video pins is to download your video. Not sure where to get started? A good place to get started using video is your phone. Use your camera or use Instagram story style videos. These make perfect video content for Pinterest.

A few housekeeping notes on Pinterest Video pin requirements:

  • File Type: .mp4, .mov or .m4v

  • File Size: 2GB max

  • Length: 4 seconds to 15 minutes

  • Aspect Ratio: Required for standard video: Taller than 1.91:1 and shorter than 1:2; Recommended for standard video: 1:1 (square) or 2:3, 4:5 or 9:16 (vertical); Required for max width video: 1:1 (square) or 16.9 (widescreen)

.

Step 2:

The second step in creating Pinterest video pins is to upload your video. You can either directly add your video to PInterest or my preferred way is to create a video in graphic using Canva.com.

In Canva.com, you simply choose a Video Pin template that already exists within Canva. Below is a visual of what it looks like inside of Canva.com.

Then you simply edit the template to match your branding and colors, so adjust fonts and colors. Next you upload your video into Canva by clicking on the uploads section on the left sidebar. Lastly you click on the uploaded video and drag it into the template!

That's it! Now you are done creating a video pin template. Now just download the file to your laptop or directly to Pinterest.

Step 3

Upload your new pin file into Pinterest. Add a title, description, a URL and a tag. Once you upload it and choose a board for the video, Pinterest will review the video to make sure it complies with their standards.

Was that helpful? I hope you're ready to dive into Pin creation! It's fun to spice up and diversify your content on Pinterest. A fun fact- Pinterest is prioritizing any video content right now. So for you, that means a ton more eyeballs on anything video pins!
